I wanted to understand better the basic principles the cyclotron uses to accelerate a charged particle, reasons for the narrow gap between the two Dees and the usage of an alternating current instead of a direct current. I tried Wikipedia, but the article was rather technical for my level. Do tell me how can I improve the way I ask questions.
