I am looking at some papers in particle Physicsphysics and came across 2 terms called QcdQCD Background and ABCD method  (control region and signal region).When When I searched them on googleGoogle, could not get much information about them. if anyone can explain at least oneCould someone either of those terms in a simple way for a non physicist, I would be grateful.
