I have a PhD in experimental condensed matter physics. My graduate research was in the field of scanning probe microscopy, and including that work I was nineteen years in that field. For the past twenty-plus years I have worked for a major manufacturer of scientific equipment. My avatar is an image I obtained as a graduate student of a charge-density wave (CDW) superimposed upon an atomic lattice obtained with a scanning tunneling microscope working at 77K.
