Does a squared unit require squaring the value?

I would like to know if an acceleration number would remain squared in $$ v=v_{o}+at $$ Such as 1.35 m/s^2, for example, would end as $$ v=v_{o}+(1.35^2)t $$ or simply as $$ v=v_{o}+(1.35)t $$ Thank y …
