The dielectrophoresis (DEP) force acting on a sphere involves the calculation of the real part of the complex Clausius-Mossoti factor, which is nothing but a relationship between the dielectric properties of the sphere and surrounfing medium. However, when it comes to an ellipsoide, the complex Clausius mossoti factor is not unique, but define for each direction (axes) of the ellipsoide. I do not understand the physical meaning of this. Ive seen some papers in which they simply use the CM factor along the major axis but they do not explain the reason. I would highly appreciate any help in this matter
