I was trying to solve a slab waveguide numerically using finite elements, but I could not figure the correct boundary conditions between the two dielectrics to force evanescent waves in the cladding to calculate the mode and propagation constant. As I understand, COMSOL uses something called transition boundary condition that basically implements Snells law. I will appreciate if you know how to implement Snell law as Dirichlet or Neumann conditions on the electric or magnetic field.

Thank you.
