I'm performing NMR on common substances like mineral oil, water, and a copper sulfate solution. I know that the ions cause low spin-lattice and spin-spin relaxation times in copper sulfate solution. Why the long relaxation times for mineral oil? Is it due to viscosity or some other factor?
