I have been working on soft membrane simulations for a while now and still find the associated theoretical literature quite inaccessible, mainly because they rely heavily on the differential geometry of 2D surfaces embedded in the 3D space. I do have a physics background, however, never had a course in general relativity where apparently most people pick up these notions.

I was wondering whether there are any lectures/video lectures out there intended for physicists/engineers and mainly focusing on 2D surfaces embedded in the 3D space. I obviously did a search myself but most lectures were either intended for mathematicians or from the general relativity perspective.
