I've been doing some research about buildings that sustain earthquakes and then it was mentioned that the triangle (or pyramid if we are talking about 3 dimensional space) is the strongest shape, why is that so? Please dummify it by a thousand times because I am easily confused.

  • $\begingroup$ Probably a triangle. $\endgroup$ – Bored Comedy Jan 16 at 20:34
  • $\begingroup$ I think this idea that the triangle is the strongest shape only applies to certain scenarios, like why pyramids tend to last longer than other buildings. $\endgroup$ – user234190 Jan 16 at 21:27
  • $\begingroup$ Where did you read that the triangle is the strongest shape? Please provide a reference. $\endgroup$ – sammy gerbil Jan 24 at 1:47
