In layman's terms, what are inverting amplifiers and why are they necessary? How can you take a circuit that has an inverting amplifier like the one below and convert it to be a normal circuit? What about vice versa? enter image description here

  • $\begingroup$ This may help a lot. Other than the gain difference (inverting can go below a gain of 1.0), its mostly a matter of how the imperfections in how we make real op-amps affect the final design (impedence matching, slew rates, etc) $\endgroup$ – Cort Ammon Oct 19 at 6:05
