I recall from inferential statistics, when performing a hypothesis test, that one either “fails to reject the hypothesis” or one “rejects the hypothesis” based on the outcome of the hypothesis test.

In physics a hypothesis is made and then a physical experiment is conducted to test the hypothesis.

Is there a formal set of words or vocabulary used to describe how the results of the experiment either show support in favor of the hypothesis (or substantiates the hypothesis) and how it falsifies the hypothesis?
