I am helping some students made models for a Science fair. They'll make 1" = 1'1:12 scale (one-scale) models of these in sculpey and wood:

  1. Roman court-houses with water features.
  2. A Persian wind catcher.
  3. Indian fountain cooling.

We will use a box fan to simulate wind and an infrared thermometer to examine temperature changes.

  1. Though at scale, will miniature models will still demonstrate the cooling effects?

  2. Would the decreased temperature be greater of lesser for the scale model relative to the real world architecture?

We will use a box fan to simulate wind and an infrared thermometer to examine temperature changes. Last year, the students produced fairly accurate, to-scale castles with exceptional detail-level, so we are confident the students can make a good representation of these in model form, based on some real blue-prints.

  1. Is it likely theseThough at scale, will miniature models will still demonstrate the cooling effects, even when made so small?

  2. What would likely be the major difference between whatWould the students observe atdecreased temperature be greater of lesser for the miniature level comparedscale model relative to what happens in the real world with the full-sized designsarchitecture?
