However, I think your impression of things are wrong, so it would be helpful if you can cite some sources for why you think that the equations are defined that way. However, if there is a dependence upon the density of final states, that is definitely coming from Fermi's Golden Rule. In any case, this is a highly scrutinised object, and so a physical answer definitely exists. | |
