Apr 7, 2015 at 2:26 comment added Kyle Kanos @MarkMcKenna: Some of the particles would collide (possibly some gaining enough energy to go the other way) and over a period of many thousands (millions?) of years, it would sink towards the middle of the star (convective motions & all inhibiting it). However, you'd still not be able to make our sun fuse silicon.
Apr 7, 2015 at 2:18 comment added Mark McKenna after the comet evaporates, will its particles lose momentum and fail to actually collide with the sun? My assumption would be that the iron mass would still likely enter the sun, having been trapped by its gravitational field.
