I was going through a book in which it was written that 'Work energy theorem for variable force, in general, does not incorporate the complete dynamics of Newton's 2nd law of motion as the theorem involves an integral over an interval of time So temporal information contained in statement of 2nd law is integrated over and is not available explicitly.'
