Nov 9, 2022 at 12:33 | comment | added | basics | I definitely agree with the operational definition of an inertial reference frame through force measurement, and the need for defining what a "real force", is in the theory used to describe the physical process, thinking at gravity in classical mechanics and GR. And once that a reference frame is found to be inertial, we can use the very same equations we use in any other reference frame to describe any observed physical process. +1, despite the main question is about the reason for defining inertial reference frames and not about the definition. | |
