Aug 2, 2013 at 22:07 comment added cspirou A prism also has an angle restriction as well. This has to do with the index of refraction and not due to the spherical shape. The bow shape is a combination of the shape of the lens being used and the light source.
Aug 2, 2013 at 21:46 comment added Dory As I've understood, the spherical shape of the drop restricts the angle between the entering light to the drop and the exiting one. This restriction leads to the creation of a cone for each water drop and then because of the spherical shape of universe, we can rotate the shape and the rainbow circle appears.If our universe had a different shape,the rainbow would have a shape else than this bow.
