Realistic String Vacua are incredibly hard to rule out, cf. physics.stackexchange.com/questions/15/…, and I fully understand scepticism in light of mankinds inability so far of obtaining actual measurable and obervable predictions from ST. The more approaches are investigated, the better our chance of getting it right!
