Mar 3, 2021 at 21:12 comment added Sandejo @DescheleSchilder Not quite, if we think of the electromagnetic field as a function $EB:\mathbb{R}^{3+1}\to\mathbb{R}^{3+3}$, we can see that the $x$-direction is in the domain of this function while the $E_x$-direction is in the codomain. While not practical, this function could be graphed as a 6-dimensional surface in a 10-dimensional space, with separate $x$- and $E_x$-axes. Drawing the $x$ component of the electric field along the $x$-axis is just a convention to keep track of how the associated electric force would affect a charge.
