In usual case in YDSE we set up in a way such that light start in phase from the two slits. Now what happens if the light starts at different phase from the two slits by placing source at different distance from the slit.
In usual case in YDSE we set up in a way such that light start in phase from the two slits. Now what happens if the light starts at different phase from the two slits by placing source at different distance from the slit.
My reasoningMy reasoning:
- Since light starts at different phase from the two slits the central Maxima would shift it's position
- If light source is closer to slit 2,the central bright fringe will be above the slit 2 such a way that light from slit two travels more distance to equate with the phase of light from slit 1.
Is this explanation correct. Is there something that I need to know more about this?
