Oct 10, 2019 at 2:54 comment added Jan Bos It's useful to understand that these discrete quantum numbers are not a direct consequence of the Schrodinger equation alone. They all stem from posing boundary conditions on the wavefunctions. This is the case for both a 1D box and the hydrogen atom.
