Launching from a perfect sphere with no atmosphere would be probably better if done tangentially so that each deltaV is added along the orbital trajectory (prograde) as much as possible. Under your assumptions isn't true that the gravity turn as described is the more efficient way. Higher you bring the rocket higher the wasted fuel | |
