I suggest you carefully read your AP physics book, and learn to work the example problems on your own until your answer matches what the author did. And note - physics is about memorizing the concepts and learning how to apply them ... it is NOT about memorizing the answer, and it is NOT about looking for the first equation that contains all of the appropriate variables.
