The spacetime outside the surface of the Earth is also locally approximated by the Rindler metric but the Earth does not produce Hawking radiation. Indeed no object that does not possess an event horizon produces Hawking radiation. The existence of the horizon is an essential part of the calculation showing that radiation can be observed by an observer at infinity. | |
