I do not understand the part: (3zx,3zy,2z2−x2−y2). Think it is a vector notation. I hope I can find a few hours this weekend to look up my old math books. Is there a easy way to explain at point (x,y,z) the magnetic field in only Y direction if the long side of the magnet is in the x direction? In other words the magnetic field that makes a perpendicular angle with the magnet's long side? Thank you for the help!

Feb 10, 2017 at 20:52 comment added Want2Know Hello thank you for your answer!! So If I follow your link I get a formula which will give me a B value. There are a few things I do not understand though. (1) I am interested in the X direction or the Y direction or the Z direction of the field. If I take a look at pictures of magnetic fields there is a curved line at this time I understand I get the total B out of the formula but not X,Y, or Z how can I do that? (2)I got a datasheet of the magnet giving me Remanence Br, Corcivity Hcb, Intrinsic Coercivity Hcj, and Max energy Product. Cant I use data from a datasheet to calculate the field?
