I think it's a bit of a sloppy argument - doesn't work for fundamental bosons v.g. photons - and I can't imagine Landau didn't know that, so I'm surprised to hear he would even mention this line of reasoning... but hey... if Landau and Feynman "pushed" this, who am I to be critical. | |

Now that I come to think of it, he may have just asserted that "spins add" as an assumption - I'll have to dig the relevant bits out now. | |
