Aug 27, 2021 at 1:52 comment added Floris Actually it will never be infinite- in the transient state the peak pressure will depend on the speed of sound in the two objects (sphere and ground) - so depending on both their Young’s modulus and their density. Peak transient pressure is higher if the density is higher - the material “gets out of the way” with greater difficulty.
