Aug 11, 2016 at 20:19 comment added dmckee --- ex-moderator kitten Momenta are vectors. You can't just subtract their magnitudes. If you don't already know this from classical physics it might be a good idea to put relativity on hold for a bit and bone up on Newtonian mechanics.
