May 3, 2015 at 6:26 comment added user2338816 @DavidRicherby Good point. I was only going for an analogy that had some meaningful details without needing wave functions, math, etc., but it's worth it to strive towards completeness.
May 2, 2015 at 16:04 comment added David Richerby You need to add the assumption that, in the blurred photo, you don't know whether the ball was travelling left-to-right or right-to-left. If you know which way the ball was moving, you know which end of the smear corresponds to the location of the ball at the instant the shutter closed.
