Apr 20, 2015 at 10:28 | comment | added | gatsu | I essentially agree with the vocabulary you use in particular the distinction between equilibrium point and being at equilibrium but there are few things where I disagree. 1) because they have a higher entropy, states with high entropy are dynamically favoured (via so called entropic forces) 2) The Gibbs equilibrium distributions (micro canonical, canonical etc..) can be interpreted as maximizing an entropy over the probability distribution of the micro states; hence they are the solution to the maximization of an entropy functional under different constraints. | |
