Okay, I'm not too sure if that allowable (possible) in matlab, but I cannot say because I am not that big of an user. Just use it when I have to. But usually I have function .m file specifically only for the function that I create and then create a script .m file (main program) in which I call the function. But it seemed like your were wanting to do both in one script which I am not too sure you can use functions in that manner. If you run that script again in matlab with function and return inside of it, you will get the error message in the command prompt as I was stating.

Patrick: Yes, I made the edit to the script file, but forgot to scroll down to the bottom and check it there was a return to comment out. I seen nowhere in the script that the function was being called. Thanks for catching that.
