I really appreciate the Stack Overflow community.

VP of a medium company, B.S. in Computer Science, currently working on creating revenue generating subscription based web applications built on MVC3 / IIS7.5 / ASP.NET4 / C# / MSSQL / MySQL / AJAX. Technology that I have used or learned about: java, javascript, jQuery, c, c#, c++, sql, oracle, fortran, pascal, assembly, basic, VB, F#, J2EE, J2ME, objective-c, etc.

I am the only person at the company who deals with software development making me fill the rolls of a software designer, programmer, dba, server admin, and graphics artist.

My main goals when designing and coding are: how can I make the user experience easiest, and how can I reduce redundancy.

When developing software, I take a duality approach where I design an approximate Waterfall model as a map, and then traverse through the map using a SCRUM agile approach.

"Acknowledge your faults so you can overcome them."

comment Why does wet skin sunburn faster?
@JohnRennie - I thought that the oil might cause a film to form on the skin. I am not sure what the result of that would be, perhaps it would refract the light? I know that some people will use mineral oil in order to tan faster, but it will also burn you faster.

What if the water contains some % of oil, such as ocean water at a tarry beach?

comment Possible to generate an electromagnetic field from moving an object through a magnetic field?
Sort of. However, in the video, and in the idea of a coil gun, an electromagnetic charge is used via the coil in order to produce a force on an object. What I am talking about is having the coil (or magnet in this case) setup, but off (not generating an electromagnetic field, only a magnetic one), and moving something through the center of it which would interact with the magnetic field to generate an electromagnetic field. Perhaps something which would have drag from the magnetic field which then wind a mini generator causing an electromagnetic field.

@Inquisitive - velocity is a rate of change. For change to occur there must be an observation made over a length of time. Velocity is dependent on time, because without time, all you would have was position. Just think of a picture of an airplane flying. Sure, the plane has velocity, but you cannot tell anything about that velocity from the picture.

@Inquisitive - Time can change, but it will not be affected by an external time. No matter how much time elapses, the time it takes light to travel one light year will still be one year. If I am timing the light, timing how long it takes me to cook dinner will not affect how long the light takes. It may tell me that I need to start multi-tasking while I make stir fry though :)
