I had once used interference with lines cut into a painted glass pane in high school. We came pretty close to the manufacturer's number. Much later, a friend's professor claimed the results were a fluke.

My first thought: it looks like a glass pane with a dimpled hole. That Wikimedia image led me to Einstein Ring, the formal term for that dimple. Turns out, Wikipedia has images of observed Einstein rings! It seems no Einstein ring from a black hole was ever observed.
