comment Mnemonics to remember various properties of materials
Note that this is really language dependent, without your definitions I would not be able to translate and understand them, even tough I know the differences (in French) :p

comment What experiment would disprove string theory?
I agree, but my point is "there is no disproof experiments needed, just proof experiments": any experiment, one after the other, contribute to the "proof", but any single one of them can be a potential disproof.

comment Why is the LHC circular and 27km long?
synchrotron radiation goes as 1/m^4, thus being negligible for protons. It is usually a design constraint for electron accelerator but it is not as important for a proton machine.

Nice question in optics !

About synchrotron radiation: the LHC is actually the first proton accelerator where this is not a completely negligible effect, but it is a second order effect: it is taken into account in the heat load of the cryo system and it is used for beam characterization, but from a pure synchrotron motion/acceleration point of view it is negligible.

comment Why is the LHC circular and 27km long?
As we are in the beta phase, it took the liberty to ask/answer a question.

comment Why is the LHC circular and 27km long?
I do indeed agree with point one, point two is less specific to the LHC (see my answer).

comment Why is the LHC circular and 27km long?
Nice simple explanation, but the LHC is not a cyclotron, but a synchrotron. And synchrotron radiation goes as 1/m^4, thus being negligible for protons.

comment What is sound and how is it produced?
The unit of "sound" is not "hertz" ... A sound wave is characterized by its frequency in Hz, OK but this wave has other characteristics also.
