Good refs, but at the risk of sounding petty I do wish people would link to ArXiv abstract pages instead of the PDF, which may be a temp file and/or become out of date if new versions of the paper are released! (ArXiv link fixed ;-) )

For UK readers, Crookes Radiometers used to be on sale in the Science Museum Shop [ sciencemuseumshop.co.uk/home.html#1 ] in South Kensington, London. Searching on that web site, I can find no sign of them there this year; but there are plenty of other gadgets and ideas for Christmas presents to stimulate the interest of young possible future Nobel prize winners ;-P

@AnnaV - Anyone can talk nonsense, and then ruefully realise it when someone points out a sound reason why it's nonsense. The difference is that a true crackpot never reaches the second stage - As John Baez (I think) nicely put it, a crackpot isn't familiar with the experience of being wrong.
