@Manishearth I want to identify the model of the system in terms of system of differential equations. At this step there is no need for a certain values for c1, k1 etc. where k1 is a rate or spring constant and the c1 is a tension (or damper) coeffitient

@Manishearth I am not fixed to a concrete system, what I want is to be able to make a correct model for any system. I am looking for a general approach. At first a simple string model, next is the connections of many strings. (but in general not only strings can be involved)

@David Zaslavsky That question is about theory of physics however I know that but my problem is in ability to construct the adequate physical models, the modeling process, correct estimation of direction and forces that influence the system. I think so.

@David Zaslavsky: Ok, but what kind of specific information has to be added here? I want understand how to include the other effects in general. Of course there is a speed of the motor, the length of the conveyor belt etc. But the simple model of just a spring is not sufficient here, because moving of the box makes some effects to oscillations. I can't understand how to model it, suppose that I have to add motor vibrations as a external force, and something more to make my model fit the real data.
