The definition of “frequency” in different contexts
Nice explanation, but it doesn't really touch upon the ambigious terminology issue. You provide an example of this yourself: "A square wave consists of a single square frequency but you can also approximate it by a number of different frequency sin waves." So, when only "frequency" is used, it can be hard to tell which one is meant. I was more looking for some way to distinguish between the two easily, and maybe even an explanation as to why we don't use "component frequency/frequency components" or something like that.
