@Qmechanic I think there should be a "Higgs-Field" tag since there are models with higgs fields that do not acquire VEVs, and no higgs-boson is present. My question is a general one about the Higgs field itself, not the higgs boson, hence I didn't add the tag "Higgs-boson".

Thanks for the reference, Luboš. Actually I know this paper. Having read it is one reason why I was surprised to read the following statement (here: t.co/Nprg3NLi): "...However, the simplest version of SUSY, called the minimally supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), predicts a mass range for the Higgs boson that is much greater than 125 GeV." He says MSSM, so he's not talking about the NMSSM or something else. So, I'm still not sure what is he talking about, especially when he says: "...much greater than 125"!
