you are indeed correct sir. Only question is, why do you subtract m1-m2 for potential energy?

I think I was being respectful. If anyone is to be offended here, it should be the people at PF

When I said stingy/cocky, I was talking about you. Just in general, if anyone is to help anyone, they shouldnt be stingy or cocky with the answers (as is the case with all of the PF moderators)

...way to learn. But being a student at a really tough university, I just dont have time for this. Physics is probably my least hardest class compared to the others. So I must work quick. If you must give hints, please give useful ones that dont require much give and take. Cedrics hints in previous questions were very helpful. Noldorin's hint was more complicated than the original question. Just dont be stingy/cocky..

PF hasnt really helped me. I'm a university student. I only have a certain amount of time to allocate to each subject before I have to move on to the next. The past few hours I dedicated to physics. I do my homework, and sometimes I have questions. I post a question on PF, and if I'm lucky, 3 hours later I'll have a response. Turns out, this response is not a hint, but only another puzzling question that I must ask myself. So I play the game. I answer the question/hint. Then they ask me another question, so that I may by myself eventually arrive at a conclusion. This is, no doubt, a great...

Honestly the thing is that although this is the right way to approach things to help the person learn, this process takes forever. A typical homework assignment (for me at least) has about 30 questions. If it takes me 15 minutes looking for answers to a simple unit question, then I will never finish my assignment. This is the reason I dont use physicsforum.com anymore. It takes HOURS to get a simple answer, and the answers they give are just 'hints', so by the time we give and take, 5 hours would have past, and I still have so many questions to go. I learn by example more than anything..

This is barely a homework question. Just a matter of units is all
