comment Topology of Fermi surface
Hi, @MengCheng, I may still have a question of this issue. I read Horava's paper. The thing I don't understand is what the winding number tells us? What is the physical difference of systems with different winding numbers N=1,2?

@MengCheng. Thank you for your answer which solved a long-standing puzzle of mine. Can you think of any reference talking about this, just to make me understand it more precisely?

comment What makes a superconductor topological?
@MengCheng Thanks for your answer. I may have an elementary question. I wonder when the Hamiltonian of $p_x+ip_y$ superconductor as you wrote down is put on torus, then what is the ground state degeneracy? I feel confused at the point that this Hamiltonian has a band, which indicates that it has only one ground state, ie. filling all the states below fermi surface. Am I wrong? What are other ground states?

comment Gravitational anomalies and topological order
Hi Prof Wen. Can you explain by an example? Let's say we have a 3D conventional superconductor, which is described by BF model with coefficient k=2. Then it has 8 GSD on a 3 torus, which is an indication that it is topologically ordered. Then does the surface of such conventional superconductors have gravitatinal anomalies? Thank you.

comment What is the general theory that describes the interactions between strings?
Thank you for your inspiration. Can you tell me a reference of the above formulism? Especially about the gauge theory.

Thanks David. I found that paper and I need to buy it. I may contact our librarian next week.
