Ok. But it would result only in redshift (no blueshift) if all the galaxies were moving away from all other (and ours). Is that impossible in nonexpanding space?

comment Isn't wave particle duality of light actually cheating?
I prefer to think that particles and their movement are not real and detectors just observe interactions between waves of object and waves of detector that reshape and narrow down the waves and exchange energy but we like to think there are small things bounce of each other because math of evolving narrow waves is very similar to that of a pool table.
