A software developer since 2002, Adam Franco primarily focuses on web applications written in PHP and Javascript while also writing a smattering of software in other environments and languages. In his work for Middlebury College Adam led the development of the Segue learning management system and the Harmoni application framework before moving on to building and enhancing a wide range of web applications. Recently Adam has been developing curricular and administrative applications based on the Drupal platform with a focus on high-performance and high-availability application deployments.

Long a proponent of open-source software development, Adam has contributed to a number of open-source projects including the Open Knowledge Initiative (O.K.I.) OSID standards, CAS, phpCAS, and a number of Drupal and WordPress modules.

When not creating virtual systems Adam enjoys designing and creating things in the physical world -- from wood furniture to photography. When his mind tires of the creative process Adam focuses his energies on Aikido, cycling, skiing, as well as other out-of-door pursuits.

comment Would a bicycle stay upright if moving on a treadmill and why?
@OlinLathrop Sorry, but the gyroscopic forces are not significant (only able to counter 2mm of lean at 12mph). Please see this article: www2.eng.cam.ac.uk/~hemh/gyrobike.htm

Added references to counter claims that gyroscopic forces are significant.
