How do we know that the nucleus isn't a quark-gluon plasma? This looks interesting. What do you mean by figure of merit? Since it has units of energy, I'm guessing you mean the energies in which this reaction can occur. |

How do we know that the nucleus isn't a quark-gluon plasma? The periodic table doesn't show an internal substructure of triples of quarks, only the the number of quarks is a multiple of 3, which either way is because the the nucleus can't have a total colour charge. |

Why do stars have absorption spectra? What do you mean "random direction"? Stars are spherically symmetric, the photons are already going in random directions. |
