comment What's outside of the universe?
"how can an infinite universe expand?" to my untrained ear this doesn't sound that unbelievable. I'm thinking of a simple R^n=>R^n map like x->2x. Something like that maps R^n (an infinite space) onto itself, pushing points close together further apart.
