Why do focal lengths affect magnification? So in simple words, it is because of angular magnification. When focal length of objective lens increases, angle subtended by the objective lens gets decreased. Hens magnification gets increased. Am I correct? |

calculating focal length of meniscus lens So if I use .25 diopters power lens with 6mm eyepiece(to make a telescope), I can get magnification up to 6667. But I have to keep 40006 mm distance between both lenses which is not recommended. |

Do I need to focus the telescope? Thanks @Chris, You game me an idea how to focus. Problem was with telescope tube. I have updated another answer with my experience based on your answer. |

Ideal distance of eye from a lens I was looking for some standard formula like if focal length of lens is x then what should be the idle distance of eye from eyepiece for upright or for inverted image. I hope it'll not dependent on number of lenses. Because it is about to be one always. |
