Notice that you don't have to run faster than the speed of light in a vacuum, only the speed of light in air. You'd be emitting some Cherenkov radiation.

A better way to say it is that a static fluid at high densities must have infinite pressure, and thus cannot exist, and so therefore gravitational collapse when a large amount of matter is placed at the same location.

I found this paper:journals.aps.org/prd/pdf/10.1103/PhysRevD.31.1341 It has a section on uniqueness of quantum mechanics, but I don't understand the paper well enough to distill the axiomatic assumptions that are used (in particular, I do not understand what they mean by a complementary structure).

Thank you; what I didn't understand was their use of linear. I thought Jackson was saying that the current density was equal to a matrix composed with the magnetic potential. Thanks for clearing it up!
