If you're talking about hydrogen and not any of it's isotopes (deutirium, tritium) then there is no difference between a Hydrogen ion and a proton. They are the same thing.

You could (at a first approximation) consider the Earth's magnetic field as a dipole at the centre of the earth, and proceed with your estimations from there. But don't expect things to be spectacularly accurate.

Nope. :) Parachutes work because they provide a drag resistance, which doesn't exist in vacuum, because there isn't anything to provide the drag.
