How do Temperature Scales work? Mass and acceleration are quantities, not scales. I mean that even if the 'length of 1 meter' is arbitrarily chosen, they can always be normalized by multiplication with a constant. |

How do Temperature Scales work? The Kelvin Scale is just the Celsius Scale shifted by a fixed amount. The position of all other 'temperatures' shifts by the same amount. The RMS-Temperature equations wouldn't hold if Mercury had decided to expand a little faster between 30 and 40C, and a little slower between 70 and 80C. |
