A venturimeter is to be fitted to a 250mm dia pipe in which the max flow rate is 7200l/min and the pressure head is 6m of water. What is the min dia of throat so that there is no negative head in it?

Is this a homework question? What previous effort did you put into its solution? – Lagerbaer Apr 22 '11 at 16:49
Venturi throats are the meter! Those are connected to a differential manometer and thus any head is a not existing problem. – Georg Apr 22 '11 at 18:16
@lagerbaer I am confused whether to convert head of water into pressure by using density*gravity*height or not? – wali Apr 22 '11 at 18:38
It does sound like a homework question - wali, if that's the case, you should start working on it and get to the point where you can ask about a specific physical concept. (The comment you wrote would actually be a half-decent question) As it is, this is too specific to be of much use on the site. – David Zaslavsky Apr 22 '11 at 22:30
will any body Please help??? – wali Apr 28 '11 at 10:25
