If water was projected from a flat surface where gravity was equal all over the surface. What would happen when the water fell in on itself? The water is in a continuous stream and is perfectly perpendicular to the surface it is projected from.

Is this what you are asking: Shoot a perfectly laminar stream of water directly up, against gravity. What happens when it reaches its maximum height and needs to fall down? Does it fall down in the same volume as water is shooting up (interpenetrating molecules), or does it spread outward, or something else? If this is what you mean, perhaps you should rephrase the question to make it more clear. –  Chris White Mar 4 '13 at 20:56
